Owl Ship Cake

I did this cake for a friend who loves the Watchmen graphic novel. For anyone familiar with the graphic novel or the upcoming film, this is the Owl Ship. Or at least my cake version rendition of the Owl Ship.

This is also my first cake done with my new airbrush. The paints used are completely edible.

The cake itself is a devil's food cake with a rich chocolate cream filling. The covering is a marshmallow fondant; the portholes and front fin are done with gum paste.
